The Choose Hope Women’s Center Pregnancy Program is designed for the client who is pregnant for the first time but is available to any woman looking for more guidance during a pregnancy. The program is not a substitute for regular doctor visits or prenatal classes. The curriculum is educational and is meant to enrich your pregnancy experience. Each free session is one on one and tailored to your needs. Sessions include a 20 to 30 minute video followed by discussion with your volunteer. During your first session, you will get acquainted with your volunteer and discuss the program, your expectations, and session schedule. How far along you are in your pregnancy when you begin the program will determine how many sessions your program will include. Our main curriculum focuses on pregnancy and birth but we also offer alternative video options that address additional topics of interest to a first time parent.
Video topics include:
- prenatal care
- fetal development
- nutrition and exercise
- discomforts and hazards
- labor & birth
- comfort techniques
- newborns & postpartum
Alternative video options discuss:
- the first years last forever
- importance of father-child relationship
- quality child care
- womb multiples
- how to stop smoking now
When possible, it is encouraged to have the baby’s father participate in the program with you. We hope the Program will encourage and empower both of you as you make life affirming decisions for your family.
