Frequently Asked Questions

We’re here to answer your questions.

You only help pregnant, unwed, teenagers, right?

Wrong. Choose Hope Women’s Center assists any woman or man who is looking for support with a pregnancy or parenting, regardless of age, marital status, race, religion, location, or income.

Do I need to schedule an appointment?

If you are a first time client, or in a crisis, you don’t need an appointment, but you may have to wait to see someone. If you call before coming a volunteer will be ready when you arrive.  Established clients need to make an appointment for the Pregnancy Program and to receive material assistance.

How long will my appointment take?

The length of time varies depending on the services you request and the questions you have. Generally, it’s between 30 and 45 minutes for a first time client.

What do I need to bring to apply?

You do not need anything for us to help you. You do not need proof of citizenship, residence, income, birth or custody. We do reserve the right to ask for ID if that is in question. If you need support services for a child that is not biologically yours, we reserve the right to ask for guardianship, kinship, or custody papers after the initial visit.

What kind of pregnancy test do you offer?

Choose Hope Women’s Center offers a free, self-administered, clinical pregnancy test.  This test is designed to determine the presence of the pregnancy hormone HCG in urine. The manufacturer states that this test is 97% to 99% accurate seven to ten days after conception. This test will offer a positive or negative indication of pregnancy, but a final diagnosis can only be made by a doctor.

How much do you charge?

All services are provided free of charge, regardless of your income level.

Do you perform abortions?

Choose Hope Women’s Center is not a medical facility and we do not perform or refer for abortions.

Where are you located?

We have two locations. One is located in the heart of Bel Air Maryland, at 38 E. Gordon Street The other is located in Edgewood Maryland, at 1924 Pulaski Highway in Harford County Maryland, but we also serve anyone in Maryland or southern Pennsylvania.
