Volunteer Spotlight: David Woods

Choose Hope Women’s Center volunteer David Woods says that he has a “passion for fatherhood” that he loves to share with young fathers.

While most clients are women, some are men, too. Some men come with their partners, while some come on their own. Our male volunteers meet with these men, listening to their stories and giving them emotional and material support so that they can be better fathers to their children.

David remembers one client who was raising two young daughters on his own. He came to us for diapers and other baby supplies. When David asked him about his children, the client’s face lit up and he pulled out his phone to show David pictures of them. David says that, as a father and grandfather, he “recognized in him the passion and love he is providing and communicating to those girls.” He says, “It was inspiring. Makes you want to help in any way you can.”

David was semi-retired from the Postal Service when he became a volunteer. He and his wife have three grown children and several grandchildren.

To people looking for a way to help, David says that there is more than one way to volunteer at Choose Hope Women’s Center. “Check them out. If you have a passion for people, children, or making an impact in the lives of families – get involved.”

Our volunteers are making a difference. Please keep them in your thoughts and in your prayers!
